These need attention now
- Severe or throbbing tooth pain that keeps you up at night
- Facial or gum swelling, or a bad taste that won't go away
- A broken, cracked, or knocked-out tooth
- A lost filling or crown leaving a sharp or sensitive tooth
- Bleeding that won't stop after an injury
- Pain when biting down, or a tooth that suddenly feels loose
These can usually wait for a normal visit
- A chip with no pain
- Mild sensitivity to cold that passes quickly
- A denture that rubs or feels loose
- Food catching between two teeth
Still uncomfortable? Call anyway. A two-minute conversation is better than a week of guessing.
What to do before you get here
Swelling
Hold a cold compress against the outside of your cheek for 10–15 minutes at a time. Call us — swelling usually signals infection.
Knocked-out tooth
Handle it by the crown, not the root. Keep it moist — in milk or between your cheek and gum — and call immediately. Time matters.
Broken tooth
Rinse with warm water, save any pieces, and avoid chewing on that side until we can look at it.
